Wireless advertising

Mon Nov 6, 2000 - 8:59 AM EST - By James Hromadka

If you're looking for a sign that wireless has arrived, look no further; Omnisky and DoubleClick will give wireless advertising a try this December with a limited trial using the OmniSky service. From the press release:
The wireless services industry faces unique challenges when including ads in Internet content delivered on handheld devices, such as smaller screen sizes and lower data-delivery speeds. OmniSky and DoubleClick are working with wireless users to develop and test innovative and compelling advertising solutions that remain consistent with the rich user experience of the OmniSky service and are relevant and valuable to users. In addition, the two companies are working as board members of the Wireless Advertising Association to develop creative, delivery and measurement standards that benefit the entire wireless industry.
After the limited December trial, Omnisky and DoubleClick will get feedback and have a full rollout of wireless advertising during the first quarter of 2001. How long before we start seeing security settings like cookie accepting, etc on our handhelds? What do you think of wireless advertising? Discuss it here.
