it "will be" good
awesome hardwaere but they need time to put on all the needed upgrades, and with the amouny of beta testing they are doing, they will have awesome software, remember, this is a ground up module, they are not copying or using third party software, so with time, it will be good, just look at the good job they did on the module itself, you better believe it will be the same for software

Geode = Junk
I have a visor prism and my reception with the geode is marginal at best. This product was released to early.

Conditional recomendation for Geode
I bought the Geode knowing full well there would be problems, as there always are with new releases of anything. The problems I have encountered are within that expectation (so far). If someone is in the market for a flawless product, either wait a few months, or shop for something else. Given that, the Geode makes me happy, and I am glad I bought it over a stand alone GPS because i hope it will be much much more expandable. I have experienced my second and third Visor crash since using the Geode, so there is merit to those complaints (I have a backup module, so no big whoop for me). What bums me out is the map situation- or lack thereof. And where to store the available maps? Need those MMC's with memory ASAP

Where are the Satellites?
Same problems as everybody. The most frustrating is that it will not stay locked on as compared to my Garmin II+ that works flawlessly. Thinking I may have gotten a defective unit I called Geodiscovery. They claim the problem is with the Handspring putting out too much RF (radio frequency) and that I needed to contact Handspring. So I did. Handspring is in the process of sending me a new unit for free. Lets see if this solves the reception problem. Not sure if its worth the wait for Geodiscovery to fix all the other problems.

Sporadic functionality is very frustrating!
I've had the same problems as everyone else, trouble-tracking satellites, and trouble maintaining a signal. The main reason I'm returning it though is its slow tracking once I receive a fix. I can't be driving looking for directions when the screen shot is at the street behind me. The sporadic functionality is very frustrating. Wait for a better company to release a springboard GPS.

Looks neat, doesn’t work!
I have yet to get this thing to work in any useful way. I'm an educated computer engineer and own three other GPS units. The Geode looks neat, and the idea behind it, obviously, is way cool. However, it just plain doesn't work. I've stood for 15 minutes in a wide-open field, trying to get it to find a signal -- no luck.

Its only Marketing
I wasnt going to post a note but, I think the reviews here look way too much like the brochure. Maybe each GD employee must write a review before they go home, sorry but the Geode isnt all that great.

I'm impressed
Locks in seconds and not only does it provide street level maps for free - but it also integrates a reader with the map. Cool. I can add all of the notes of my favorite fishing holes. Beam them to a buddy. Cool again. Good job Geodiscovery!
