If potential meets expectations...
I love my Visor Deluxe. The 8MB RAM is an incredible value compared to the Palm. But I do have two concerns. One, how will we ever upgrade the software? I mean, we can't stay on OS 3.0.1 forever. And two, we need to see more modules. Specifically, modules that match the functions and options of the Minstrel wireless solutions for the Palm V and III. Mindspring, get your developers to hop to it. You've got a happy customer here.... for now. But I want wireless!

Best bang for the buck!
I have never owned a PDA before, and after looking at the Visor Deluxe at work, and checking out what else is out there on the web,I would not recommend anything else, but the Visor!

Very nicely done
I got the visor deluxe a while ago havent had many problems. Would recomend the metal stylus which interestingly enough had a reset pin and screwdriver. And also purchased a new case which fixed the second problem with the visor. Have to say though only crashed a few times with third party software, had to reinstall the software, but what software is perfect, look at Microsoft.

Visor Deluxe, the ultimate PDA...
I'd never owned a PDA before the Visor Deluxe and I want to put some things to rest here about previous reviews: * Shipping Problems? Not here. Handspring's shipping of my Visor Deluxe was super-quick. * Support? I dealt with tech support when I tried to cancel my order a day after I placed it. I received a prompt response within 24 hours stating that the warehouse had already processed the order. I was iffy about the cancellation anyway (because of earlier reviews I read here) but I'm glad I didn't send the VDx back. Looks like Handspring has improved customer support considerably since the early reviews posted here. * Scratching the screen? I have yet to scratch my screen once and I've scribbled, played games and scribbled some more. The stylus won't harm your screen at all, even though it might feel like it would at times. Maybe previous complaints were from an earlier version of stylus? * Quality? This palm is built very well. I can't think of anything on the unit that seemed cheap or flimsy to me. I expect it will last for years to come. * Data entry? Data entry on the VDx is pretty painless. I was able to copy/past most of the info into the Palm Desktop software with ease. Entering data is as easy as 1-2-3 with the character recognition or the built-in keyboard. I am still probably going to opt for a Targus Stowaway keyboard when they come out simply for the convenience of extensive data entry away from my PC. * Extras? I don't own any Springboard Modules yet, but I have my eye on the GPS system coming out within a couple of weeks. I already checked for my city maps at the Marcosoft site and was impressed with the amount of detail. This is going to be one of my first modules. The 8MB flash module sounds nice, but steep for now at $80. I've still got plenty of RAM available and I doubt I will need one of them for quite some time. I just had to have an Otter 2000 for my VDx since I camp a lot during the summer months. I haven't received it yet but I know this case is going to be THE solution for protecting my VDx on my excursions. *Conclusions? I don't have experience with other palms so I'm biased, but I would have to say VDx is well worth the money. Expandability is easy and painless and there are all kinds of goodies out there just waiting to be found for your VDx. There's no sense in paying a lot more for a 3Com when you get more RAM and the module capability with VDx. As for the color palms, I really don't see myself paying high-dollar palm just to see color, it's not worth it. Stop reading this and go buy a Visor Deluxe, you won't regret it.

I have had my VD since december and have found many more uses for it than I would have ever thought of. I love the usb syncing with my mac- Hawkins and Jobs must have gotten together to make it work so well.

UPDATE TO PREVIOUS REVIEW
... Additionally, you'll find a small "SCREW DRIVER" embedded into the other end of the stylus....

BEST PALM TO DATE!
I do believe that Palm has their hands full now that Handspring has thrown their hat into the ring. The main review by Mic is right on target except I have information to dispute one of his cons. There is a reset pin built into the stylus tip. Just unscrew the stylus tip and you'll find the missing reset pin. Additionally, you'll find a small screw embedded into the other end of the stylus. Way to go HANDSPRING!!!

Waiting for retail was worth it
Bought my Graphite VDx @ CompUSA last Wednesday. Looks like they've decided to include a better stylus (identical to the ones in the 5-pack). I'm a former Palm III user, and the extra 6 MB of RAM really gives a lot of room to breathe (AvantGo was killing my poor Palm III). I experienced a couple of small problems with the software setup (I removed my Palm software beforehand), but otherwise, it's been great

A great PDA
The Visor is the best pda i've ever owned. The USB connection is super fast (although I had to upgrade my computer, a old PowerBook G3, to use it) and the software isrock solid. Tiger Woods golf is surprisingly fun, and the backup springboard really works. The only problem is that everyone I see thinks it's a gameboy!

Bulletproof! Get this...
As a true testament to the quality of the product, my wife left her Visor on the roof of her car and drove away. The Visor was in it's leather case at the time. Judging from the condition of the case, it bounced a bit on three corners. When found, the only problem was a scratch on one corner and the Springboard cover & stylus had popped out and disappeared. The Visor still works like new!
