Availability On Hold

iButton Module by Dallas Semiconductor

The Visor port adapter for the iButton plugs in as an expansion module. Neither the length, width nor height of the Visor is increased after the module is installed. The Visor's main battery supplies the power for communication with an iButton or other 1-Wire chip.

An embedded iButton can stay resident with the Visor. The Java-powered iButton is a physically secure coprocessor for safe storage of all your personal credentials. The trusted computing inside the cryptographic boundary of the iButton performs authentication, digital signatures and time stamps. The iButton owner shares a secret with the iButton as a password that is entered by way of the palm computer. In this way,the credentials are kept private even if the Visor is left unattended. E-commerce transactions can be via the Visor's wireless IR link or the serial/USB docking cradle.

This is available and works fine!
This module is most definitely NOT "ON HOLD". Though you have to order it from Mexico, service to me was great - it arrived in about 4-5 days. It comes with an iButton, a thermistor probe, a CD full of apps and an SDK. I can read my Java iButton ID and read temps with the probe right out of the box! This is a cool module if you are into iButtons, or if you want to experiment with 1-wire interfaces and real-world devices. FOR SERIOUS DEVELOPERS ONLY!
