Power
Good system but needs an adapter to recharge it while in the car. It would be great if that also recharged the battery for the Visor Delux (if it had rechargability)

Has its limits
I find the quality of the sound at the other end of the call is not as good as when I use a Nokia on my Cingular (formerly PacBell PCS) service. I am told it sounds hollow, like I'm using a walkie talkie. The earphone/microphone has an echo on my end when I am using it. Using the phone without the earphone/mic is awkward. I do love the fact that all the information in my Visor is usable while on the phone or to find numbers and people to call. The earphone/mic would be improved it it had a switch in it to answer/end calls. I think the leather case (a very nice feature) is made backwards. You have to remove the phone from the case to use the touch screen. It would be better if the unit fit in the holster facing away from the clip.

It's a keeper
I've only had the VisorPhone for 2 days and I'm already permanently attached to it. The only trouble I've had so far is receiving SMS messages. Hopefully, I can work that problem out soon. I recommend the VisorPhone.

Overall, functionality trumps price
I think it's great. Use VoiceStream for voice and VoiceSteam-DataStream for e-mail(MultiMail) and internet(Blazer) via ISP AT&TWorldnet. A few start-up bumps but now all's well. (thanks to great tech support @ Handspring and Voicestream and VisorCentral message boards). wishes: 1. better cases for V+VP 2. track time of calls and data. 3. One re-charging/HotSync device for all modules. 4. Better headsets(HS is fair at best)

Real Problem with GSM
One major problem with this phone is the use of GSM. While this will be the wave of the future, it's pretty limited now. Other digital services will default to analog if you go out of the digital area. My Motorola Timeport will keep me connected anywhere in the US, digital or analog. If you have a GSM phone you loose ALL service when you go out of the GSM area. Not a nice thing if you travel a lot!!! When GSM gets more coverage, or they come out with GSM/Analog phones, then I'll consider it.

Time is money, no time display and high prices
As the review points out, there is no way to find out the sum of your calls to keep track of included service plan time remaining. My service plan also nicks you a minute for every data call no matter how short (not included in free time), so just checking SMS runs up your bill. Solution would be fine except you are paying 3-4 times as much for the coolness of having one device for both functions -- not really worth it, and if your Visor cannot run OS3.5 you are also precluded from using Web Clipping web sites, not disclosed in the product literature. Needed: 1) Lower priced service plans with data calls included in "free" minutes, 2) Software already set up for web access w/clipping included (the process of setting up for simple web browsing is a "not our department" right now -- they don't want to provide any assistance at all.)

UPDATE
I called tech support at around 3pm yesterday the 18th with a problem with the phone. They said they have not heard nor seen the problem they shipped me a new unit out letting me know that it may take 3-5 businees days. Guess what at 1 pm today not more than 21hours later I recieved the replacement and it works! Talk about customer service! Thanks Handspring! another happy Handspring customer!

Got one!
I just got mine yesterday it is prettty cool I was a sucker theat paid 500 for the phone and 450 for the Prizm but it is cool and Very functional. The leather on the case (Sold Seprately) is kind of cheap though. My visor phone had a software glitch and gave me an error every time I made or recieved a call. So I sent it back I can't wait until they send me another. One gripe The Phone AP is not in COLOR. Anyone have any idea if they are going to revise this?

what about using your palm apps while on the phone???
I don't own one, but I know how I already use my cell phone and my palm. I'm talking to a client, for example, and I want to actually look at my schedule, see when I'm free next week, and then make the appointment. I might also jot down a few notes while I'm talking, to remind me to bring various disks and tools. Can you imagine how cumbersome that would be with the VisorPhone? "Hang on Bill, I need to put my phone down and write down the appointment in my datebook..." Perhaps I should get a stylus-earring and start learning earlobe-grafitti... ;-) -Warren Ernst Windows Magazine
