Sync anytime, anywhere

Tue Feb 22, 2000 - 11:44 AM EST - By James Hromadka

IBM, Lotus, Motorola, Nokia, Palm, Inc., Psion and Starfish Software announced toda the SyncML initiative, which promotes an open industry spec for data synchronization accross multiple networks, platforms, etc. From the press release:
The SyncML Initiative will leverage industry standards Extensible Markup Language (XML), MIME, the vCard and the iCalendar to represent Internet Data, email information, personal contact information and calendaring information. Extending beyond currently available data synchronization technologies, SyncML will enable seamless synchronization among wireless and wireline networked data, computers, laptops, handheld computers, PDAs, mobile handset and other mobile devices.

Between this and that SUV with the HotSync cradle there will never be a place that you can't synch your Palm-compatible.
