Visor Platinum makes a comeback

Tue Mar 5, 2002 - 8:37 AM EST - By Marcus Adolfsson

The Visor Platinum handheld is back, this time exclusively at Handspring's online store.

The price is now $169.00, the same as the mainly identical Visor Neo.

"Visor Platinum was one of our most successful and popular products," said Joe Sipher, vice president of product marketing for Handspring. "We sold out of Visor Platinum during the holidays, and since then we've had strong interest from our customers in bringing the product back. We are re-releasing the product for a limited time to meet this demand."

Originally introduced in October 2000, Visor Platinum is powered by Motorola's DragonBall VZ 33 MHz processor, the fastest Palm OS processor currently available. It has a crisp monochrome display supporting 16 shades of gray (4-bit grayscale). Visor Platinum runs on two AAA batteries that provide four to six weeks of performance with standard use. It comes with 8MB of RAM and includes the basic features of the Visor line of products such as enhanced applications, USB support, Mac OS compatibility out of the box and the innovative Springboard expansion slot.
