Palm charging for OS 3.5 update

I hope Handspring doesn't take to this. The New York Times is reporting (free reg req) that Palm's next flash update, which will upgrade Palm IIIx and Palm V users to OS 3.5, will not be free when it becomes available this fall for <$20. "Typically what you have seen in a Palm upgrade has been very incremental," said John Cook, senior director for consumer product marketing at Palm. "We think we have added a lot more value."

While some of the newer features are nice, many of them, like tapping the title bar to bring up the menu to me should have been there in the first place. Here's a list of the features in OS 3.5.

I can understand a major update warranting a fee, but I don't think the new features are worth the extra money. Do you think Palm should be charging for this update. Discuss it here.
