Physical Specifications
The Backup Module is similar to the 8MB Flash module in that they have similar size and weight. The Backup Module fits flush with the Visor, so users should have no problems with any carrying case. The hard cover that comes with the Visor fits quite nicely over the module when on the back of the Visor. Unfortunately, the yellow Handspring label is also on the Backup Module, detracting from the stylish graphite on my Visor.
Usability
The Backup Module, like all other springboard modules,
is completely plug-n-play. For the record, the Backup Module can completely
backup a Visor Deluxe. When the module is inserted, a new program,
Backup, is automatically added to the programs
list. The module does not visibly take up any additional memory when inserted
into the Visor. The Backup application will
have a square bullet next to it. Springboard modules are completely "hot-swappable"
-- you can pull the module out whether the Visor is on or off. The Backup
application will disappear from the program listing when the module is
removed. One nice thing that I noticed is that if you insert someone
else’s Backup module, the Backup program warns you if you attempt a backup/restore.
