The Total Recall Digital Voice Recorder from Targus gave me an opportunity to not only record my ideas as I spoke them, but I could also email them to friends, family, and colleagues! The unit ships with 4MB of storage (which results in 1.5 hours of recording time), a 'Plug-In Shuttle', and a Voice Desktop Application to allow the user to transfer recordings to their desktop PC.
Physical Specifications
The Total Recall is slightly larger than a standard size module (65 mm x 53 mm x 10 mm) and sticks out the top of the Visor about 10 mm, when inserted in the springboard slot, and about 5 mm out the back. This poses a problem if you are using a case which utilizes the Visor cover to retain the unit. However, as I'll explain later, I personally didn't think this hindered the usefulness of the module. The top of the module has a microphone flanked by an earphone and microphone jack on either side. The back of the module has a grill design which protects the speaker. On the front of the module there are 4 control buttons (Play/Stop, Skip Forward/FF, Skip Backward/REW, Record) which are hidden when the unit is in the Visor. The top, front, right corner has a red LED which is visible when the module is in the Visor.
