Sony unveiled the monochrome Clie (Communication Link Information Entertainment) last night in New York. The device will be available in mid-late September.

Sony is initially only releasing the monochrome because of shortages in color displays and other components. A color version is expected next year. As the monochrome version retails for $399, I'd hate to see the retail price on the color model.

See this C|Net article for more details. After hearing some of the flack that some people gave Handspring for the Visor name, they are going to have a field day with the Clie. (Is it pronounced "clee"? "cly"? "clay"?) Discuss the Clie here.
