Magellan GPS module coming soon

Fri Jan 19, 2001 - 4:37 PM EST - By James Hromadka

GPSThe Magellan GPS Companion™ Springboard module that was announced at Comdex will begin shipping by the end of January. Retailing for $149, it will definately give the HandyGPS and Geode some competition.

According to my source, the Magellan GPS will have a different antenna that gets and holds a satellite fix very well, and its two AAA batteries should last around 10 hours.

The GPS Companion will include Nav Companion, which gives general location information, and a licensed version of Quo Vadis by Marcosoft called Map Companion.

Preorders are to begin sometime today from Marcosoft's website.
