Is everything backed up when I HotSync?
Not really. It really just is meant to backup your data, but not the rest of your stuff.

Not really. It really just is meant to backup your data, but not the rest of your stuff. After a hard reset, you would have to reinstall third party applications. The best way to have a complete backup is to get a Backup module or Backup Buddy from Backup Buddy Software.
