Handspring support for Mac OS X later this month..
One of our readers forwarded me an email from Handspring which indicates that we will finally see official support for Mac OS X with Handspring products sometime later this month. See this email below (emphasis mine):
Thank you for contacting Handspring Technical Support.
We understand that you are experiencing difficulties with waiting for the Palm Desktop 4.0 for Mac OS X.
We will provide you with a series of steps to resolve your issue.
Please follow these steps:
Palm, Inc. released Palm Desktop 4.0 for Macintosh OS X. Although it includes a driver which works with most of our handhelds, this version has not passed the tests for use with Handspring products, and we do not officially sanction it. When the development on this software is completed, we'll make it available on our website.
We have been advised that there should be a Mac OS X version released sometime in September of this year.
If you feel that you can not wait that long, I would suggest that you take a look at the report on Treo Central, (http://treocentral.com/content/Stories/121-1.htm), for information on how to use Palm Desktop 4.0 for Mac OS X, with a Handspring product. Finally! I look forward to the update, as I have not been able to recommend Handspring's products for Mac users because of the issue of non-support.
On another Mac note, if you are in the Houston area, the grand opening of the Houston Galleria Apple retail store is this Saturday. If you happen to spot me at the opening, stop by and say hello! (Just don't expect a cut in line)
