SmartMedia Adapter tester comments

Tue Feb 27, 2001 - 11:58 PM EST - By James Hromadka

I got an email from someone that is beta testing a SmartMedia adapter Springboard module that functions similarly to the CompactFlash adapters we have seen recently. Here are some of the tester's comments:
I do want to tell you, this thing is GREAT!! Works just like the matchbook adapter (yes, I have one of those too), but the fact that this is a true springboard adapter and includes the software makes this a better option given the 2 choices. It includes a Jpeg viewer (quality is OK), backup, file mover (A true mover utility). The Interface is top notch too.
Sounds pretty good! With all of the external memory modules that have been announced/released lately, I hope that they can offer some form of compatibility among the various modules. I would hate to need three different conduits so I can view JPG images on MMC, CompactFlash, and SmartMedia. There is a Developer's kit for the eyemodule2. Perhaps module developers could use this as the standard for image viewing on external memory?
