More on the VisorPhone

Wed Sep 20, 2000 - 9:16 AM EDT - By James Hromadka

C|Net has some more information about the upcoming VisorPhone, which will be the first add-on to turn a PDA into a cell phone. The VisorPhone will be officially announced Monday and will only be available from Handspring's website.

The GSM phone will have address book integration and caller ID. According to Handspring, conference calling and speed dial have also been improved. The VisorPhone will ship later this year in the US and in Asia and Europe next year, and will be $299 with a service contract and $499 by itself. Those improvements sound very familiar. Oh wait, Jeff Hawkins mentioned them in his PC Expo keynote address when he discussed smart phones. Now I wonder how many of those slides he showed were real screenshots.
