Great product. |
This works like a charm. I'm not sure why anyone would give it a negative rating.

I Got Mine!.......It is GREAT!!! |
The keys feel exactly like a laptop, the size is much easier to carry around than the GoType (which I had for my Palm), and (because of those two items) I don't make nearly as many keying errors on the Stowaway as I did on the GoType.
Get one and replace your laptop today!

Excellent (yet with some teensy flaws) |
This thing is is the coolest piece of engineering I've seen for some time. It works really well overall.
Yet I am left with two minor concerns.
One is that I find it difficult to attach my Visor to the Stowaway. I don't think it should require so much clumsy fumbling to connect it up.
The second may very well be a limitation of the Visor rather than the Stowaway: Typing is slow to appear on the screen. This is not a huge issue with my slow typing, but with a decent typist, this could be annoying.
Yet taken all in all, I would recommend that anyone with a Visor and $100 to blow should get this gadget.

Almost worth every penny |
I have to admit, if CompUSA was carrying the GoType! for the Visor at the time I bought my stowaway, I would have gone for it instead for its features and lower coasts. However, as a product, I am more than impressed with the stowaway. After observing the only negative reviews were from those who were unable to find it, I bought mine and was glad I did within 5 minutes of actually using it.
My only qualms are: sometimes the keyboard doesn't lay entirely flat, causing the keyboard to bounce when you hit certain keys (a little unnerving when you have $100 invested in it); I'm not crazy about the layout of the backspace key (I tend to hit the + key instead); the 'stylus well' doesn't hold the standard stylus too snuggly (one wrong maneuver and the stylus goes flying); it could have been designed a *little* better, i.e, carving out niches towards the top right and left corners so that you can almost completely fold up the keyboard with the visor still attached to free up some temporary desk space; and I was severely disappointed when, after installing the software, my keyboard didn't work. I had to disable and reenable the software to make the keyboard work, that also was somewhat unnerving considering the investment.
However, all in all, the pluses more than make up for the minuses. The control key (which the GoType! does not have) allows for easy parallel word processing techniques of Windows, it is incredibly small and compact when folded up, the engineering is impressive enough, the keyboard driver seems to do its part - I entered in over 30 addresses in well under 10 minutes, which is a bit more than I could have managed with Graffiti. As expensive as it is, chances are you'll forget all about the price once you've used it for five minutes (well, almost forget about the price).

Well worth the wait!! |
I have been following the release of the stowaway for months and could not wait to get one for my Visor DLX. I finaly started calling around last week and found that my local CompUSA had seven on the shelf(Saw a previous review and gave it a shot...they are out there, now!). As a touch typest I was curious as to how good it would be. Stowaway delivers in a big way. The feel is better than my laptop and the function keys and software makes it a snap to navigate in the Palm OS. In addition the slipper visor case works great too. My hats off to the Thinkoutside team!

Get it while you can... |
The main problem is finding the suckers. It's an incredible product. I love mine, and I can't wait for the opportunity to leave the laptop at home and take the Visor and keyboard.
If you're looking for a case, Franklin Covey has a sport binder that has interchangeable modules that will hold both the Visor and the keyboard.
However, I'm waiting for something designed for both, and a few of my favorite modules.
I so wish Handspring had coordinated the release of the Visor with the availability of supporting modules and products. A good product can get a bad rep if the other goodies aren't available.

I 've just orderd at PalnGear HQ's from JP |
I visited the Japanese famous PDA shop,IKESHOP(www.ikeshop.co.jp)in Akihabara,JP and found only the Palm Portable Keyboard(PPK) displayed. I'm using WorkPad(JP Edition) & Visor(US Edition).
So I've just ordered Stowaway Portable Keyboard for Visor, because the shop-clerk said PPK was suitable for Palm III, IIIc or V, but was't suitable for IBM WorkPad Japanese Edition.

The Stowaway delivers |
Yes, it's every bit as great as
it's been hyped to be. I carry the
Visor in one coat pocket (which
shares space with a cell phone) and
the Stowaway in the other -- a
whole office, and no backpack or
briefcase! Now if Glenayre will
release their two-way pager for
email . . .

Love Keyboard, Where is the case? |
I got my Targus Stowaway and love it. However, there was no case with the keyboard. Anyone else buy one and get a case with it?

The Stowaway made me ditch my laptop! |
For the first time, I left my laptop at *home* all week! I always carry my visor, my backpack and laptop around, but now I can put my visor on me and the stowaway in my backpack and take over the world! :D
