Got SmartMedia? Get MemPlug! |
If you have any SmartMedia cards this is a no brainer. I agree that it would be nice to run programs from the SMC but even if you can't it is a better solution over current CF offerings (provided that you don't have any CFs )

No Execution Supported |
I can't understand what all the fuss is about and why this product is supposed to be so much better than the CF adaptor. It would be, of course, IF it would execute programs from its memory, like the Handspring module, but it looks like it doesn't. If you store a program there, you must move it back to the Visor's main memory to run it. Since this wasn't clear from any review or other comment, I wrote to the company. Their answer was "MemPlug at the version is only allowed to store application and database in
SMC.

What about cases? |
The idea of MemPlug seems extremely attractive to me but I worry -- I use the HandSpring Slim Leather Case -- will the Visor still fit with Memplug installed?

Great Product |
I just received my memplug and suddenly my visor memory has increased by 8X (with a 64meg smartmedia card). The possibilities are staggering. Awesome! Programs are a snap to use. Real plug and play. Very impressive.

Big thumb up |
I use smartmedia in my digital camera. The card inserts flush in the camera. My only concern in this great product is how vulnerable the media will be with the edge "exposed".

My thumb up vote... |
I'm voting to help even out the score here, since two people meant to vote in favor but clicked the wrong button (how?????) and one person voted negative when all they were doing was asking a question. Hey buddy, thats what the forums are for.
Anyway, I think the Memplug is a great product. I'm getting one soon the specs are awesome and the company responds to questions on the VC boards! If only I had more than one thumb... ;)

This is great! |
The only thing better would be if you could actually run programs or read files directly from the SmartMedia. The inventors there say they are looking into it. Other than that, this is a fabulous springboard. I've already used the backup utility and watched a 30 second movie.

Should be your first Springboard! |
This product should be on your list along with a case and spare stylus and extra batteries as the first items to add after buying your Visor.
