The best deal going |
I own a visor pro, and I wish it had a color screen. My handcam was one of the best purchases of my life. It allowed me to take digital pictures of my son's first birthday party, without having to buy an expensive digital camera. Don't let the gray screen fool you. When I hotsynced my visor with my computer, I was EXTREMELY impressed. COLOR PHOTOS!!!! They were not the best quality pictures, but for the price, I cannot complain. My whole family can't believe their eyes when they see how easy it is for me to use this camera. I also use it for my webcam. No complaints there, either. I have yet to have a problem with this, or my visor. All in all, I can't think of a better package for the money. It's a worthy investment, and a job well done.

Problematic |
Had numerous hard-resets since using it. Watch out for my review on SPUG.net soon.

Targus DISCONTINUED HandCam |
I read the other user's comments and was about to buy one. It's no longer offered for sale. Targus did not say why.

Not for Macintosh. |
I just recieved my Handcam and and the info on the packaging was the first indication that this was a Windows only item. I am very disappointed that this doesn't work with a Mac. And I'm very angry that your fact sheet above says that it will.

Good, but be careful |
It is NOT a replacement for a fullsized digital camera - We\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'re not even talking a single Megapixel. It has a shutter speed that is too slow - So no action shots. Annoyingly it seems to take TWO shots when you do Full size images, a Quick palm shot and the full size image. (I\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'ve had shots that I thought were of 2 people from the Visor viewed image, but see only the one on the Full size with them moved, and maybe a blur) Consequently the Visor shot may appear as one thing and the PC version will be substantially different. The manual could have been better - the focus ring was virtually unexplained, and the file sizes substantially OVERestimated in size.
Focusing is a guessing game - the image on the Visor may SEEM focused, but when uploaded the shot isn\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t.
That aside, IF you can take shots with steady subjects and a Steady hand, you can get some good images. It also is somewhat clandestine, as usually no one recognizes it as a camera...
I\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'ve yet to get this working as a Webcam, but getting it to upload pictures was relatively easy (They appear after hotsync in C:/Targus Handcam/ -- A Visor - PC one-way sync.)
All pictures are stored as a set of database files in the Visor memory, NOT as individual Jpegs, so don\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t think you can easily use Memory cards to transfer individual pictures. You have to transfer the Set of database files I guess. Shots can be transferred to the Camera memory (not movies), but can\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t be viewed there. This DOES allow the handcam album to be seen, even if the cartridge is not in the unit.
Expect a learning curve as to when and how to use it. And don\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t depend on a single shot no matter what the On screen viewed version is...
Price wise it seems to be worth it, especially if the Webcam function can be solved. (I think it in my case is because of limited older USB connections...)
