Could not get to work. Battery Lid would not come off. |
I bought my HandyGPS from Palm Gear H. Q. and when it arived I could not remove the battery lid. When I contacted Palm Gear H. Q. I was told that most people were having the same problem and that I was to retrun the unit. They would not send me another but told me to wait until the new Handy, some time in Febuary. Not very "handy" if you can't get the batteries in.

Spend the $149.99 already... |
or you can keep waiting for all the mystery springboard modules that never actually go on sale, magellan, geode, etc.

Good GPS unit for the money |
For $150, this is a good value. Initial satelitte lock does take patience, which most people dont have. Are you going to pay $300 for a GPS to use on a 3X4 inch non-color screen? There is a lot of whining going on here, The unit does not use a Sirf chip, nor does it have any storage so I dont know how someone is complaining about that. Overall it works fine and most of the people who have posted here, said that cust service was good, what more could you ask for?

I agree with patience required |
I agree. The unit is fun to use and works better each time you use it. It certainly meets my needs and it is worth the price. No way would I pay almost $300 for a GPS unit. Nexian customer service was also great the first time I called. They stayed on the phone with me until I had all four satellite fixes.

patience required |
I am finding in reading these reviews that people might just not have the patience they need to operate this nifty little gadget. Remember, it is only $150.00. And for $150.00 it works really well. I did take me several minutes to get that first satellite lock, after that it worked great, everywhere, including in the car. The gps is a relatively "high tech" product. It's functionalities are not that simple. The unit is well worth the money. I recommend it and I suggest a little more patience while learning how to understand it.

Handy GPS vs. Geode |
Bought the handy GPS - beta tested the Geode. Sent back the handy GPS - and waiting for my Geode. The Geode wins hands down.

its all in the features |
battery life is poor, storage is poor, software is poor, hardware engineering is poor... not a viable solution.

Not too bad |
takes time to use but the more you use it. the better it seems to get. I ould like to see it inter face with better software like randmcnally.

Pretty Bad |
I found the Handy GPS to be VERY finicky about trees and other obstacles when trying to connect to satellites.
But the very worst part about it is that the HandyGPS completely locked up my visor 3 times. The lockup was so severe that soft resetting the Visor wasn't enough to being it back to life. If I soft reset, the "Palm Computing" screen would appear, but it has a random pattern of pixels scattered across it. The only solution was a hard reset...NOT good. I finally sent it back.

buy a real handheld GPS for less money |
Like most springboards this is a gimmick to get people to buy the visor, buy a Garmin handheld, same goes for a real MP3 player, and a real Cell phone, all good ideas but when you add up the cost of these springboards, its crazy expensive. I have two springboards, tiger woods and the backup, sorry for the ranting......
