Read Review (Rating 4/5) <<
Turn your Visor into a super-convenient digital camera with eyemodule2.
It's push-button simple! Just slide the eyemodule2 into the Springboard™ expansion slot and you're ready to capture and view images and mini-movies, label them, and beam them to your friends. See the images directly on your Visor handheld's screen, then just press the button when you see the picture you want to take. A single and multiple-image timer makes it even easier. With no film, batteries or special software required, picture taking is finally as spontaneous as you are.
Install the included software on your Windows or Macintosh computer to automatically save images as JPEGs or QuickTime mini-movies. You can even email or print them. Plus eyemodule2 is bundled with a full version of ACDSee, a cool desktop image viewer (a $50 value)!

At $75 it's worth it. |
Got mine at Staples for $75 (discounted price). The pictures are not bad and I can take it with me all the time.

this is a truely cool module |
people who dont like this module seem to think that it's a replacement for a cannon powershot or something.
this is not a professional digicam. that said, you dont carry your normal digicam around with you wherever you go, now do you?
but you DO carry your visor around! and thats the whole point. it's a digital camera that you have with you all the time. I love mine. the software is excellent as well.

Great Product |
The EyeModule2 is a great product. Will it replace a regular digital camera, no. But the amount of things I have photographed with this has been amazing. And thats what this module is meant for. To take quick pictures of things that you would probably not waste your time on with a regular camera.

This module is for two kinds of Visor users |
This module is for two kinds of Visor users -- (1) those who don't mind wasting money on poorly-designed gadgets, and (2) those who cannot tell a poorly-designed gadget from a good one.
This is definitely not worth the money. If and when it sells for the cost of a Bigmac and small fries (plus free S&H), then, maybe, just maybe, you should consider getting one.
I am not comparing EM2 with a real digital camera, I am merely assessing it for its price vs. its quality (or lack of).

It's great! |
I've been using the Eye 2 for a month. Undoubtedly it's a great product. The beauty is that it turns your Visor to another device. Another great thing is that it is PART of your Visor, not an ugly attachment.
I'm able to take great pictures using Eye 2, even at poor lighting conditions. Photography skills play a vital role in picture quality, so it's unfair to blame the picture quality of this module if we don't know how to handle it. Here are some tips:
1. Keep you hands still.
2. Keep the distance between the lens and the object to at least 18".
3. Don't take the picture as soon as you see it on the screen - give some time to the module to focus on the object.
4. Fluorescent lighting is great for indoor photo taking.
5. It's not quite suitable to close, fast-moving objects.
6. Taking photos for objects is easier than taking portraits at poor lighting condition - perhaps skin and clothes are less reflective than other materials.
I also faced some problems transferring photos from my Visor to the PC. However, there are only exceptional, and in most cases there are no problems. Of course I'll be happy to see patches for software upgrades.
I do agree that it is expensive and there are rooms of improvement, but it gives you a lot of fun. Imagine how you happy you are when someone passes by yells, 'He's taking photos! What's it?'

Great idea, mediocre performance, software problems with backup. |
I bought to eyemodule2 for taking pictures of equipment at a trade show. The color VGA camer met my minimal requirements and to size & convenience convinced me to spend $200 for the module.
I need to take the equivalent of 5 or 6 rolls of film (150+ pictures) for a show. The FAQ section at the eyemodule web site indicated that I could same the pictures to a Flash Card in my Palm deviece when it filled up (35 or so VGA size pictures). I happily did so and saved the pictures. When I transferred them back to the Palm device I discovered that I could view them on the Palm but could hot Hotsync them to my PC. This caused a fatal error every time!
Contacting both Handspring & the eyemodule site resulted in canned responses with no solution to my problem. I can see the pictures on my Palm but have to resize them to tiny B&W photos to get them out. Nice toy, but it I wanted this kind of results I could have gotten by with my son's Gameboy camera. Not worth the investment until they fix the software. (Yes I'm mad!). If they fix this great. If not, buy a digital camera.

Better off with digital camera for personal use, however....... |
Good for people that need to take snapshots of houses, etc as mentioned in Alan Graham's article. At $199, you can find a better camera for personal use.
