Interface too complex |
I love DateBk3, but found myself wanting the 'contact' linking offered by Action Names and DateBk4. So I tried them both, for a month each, and I could not come to terms with the complexities of the DB4 interface. It's very feature rich, seems to do a lot, but it's like surfing those websites that take 6 'clicks' to get where you want to go - instead of the 3 it could take.
In the end AN won it, simply because of simplicity.
I still keep a 'weather eye' on DB4, but that's all. For now..

Crashes?? NONE! |
It's a very stable product, the sole reason I use my Palm V it seems! It's super stable, I run overclocked at 32mhz and 11 hacks running and it's the one program that never crashes and I use it the most! I love DateBk4!

Definitely should be on everyone's Visor |
I don't understand those of you with 8MB Deluxes saying things like, "too large of a program." Umn, what do you have on your Visor, anyway? The whole NY Public Library??? (I'm willing to bet you have at least 3MB hanging loose with nothing to do.)
This is an app that should be on everyone's PDA. There is a very good reason why Handspring licensed it: Datebk4 is reason enough to buy a Palm OS-based PDA.

Best use of memory |
Keeps me on track and organized. What else would you need to use this memory on anyhow?
You can definatly sacrifice chess or some other useless applications for this. Especially if you own the Visor Deluxe.

Must Have |
I'd been a registered user of Datebk3 for more than two years. Even though the update to Datebk4 would have been free, I still paid for it - this app is worth every penny.

I Love it |
Main plusses:
- Icons make the monthly view very useful
- linking is a great convenience
- repeating floating events addresses a real shortcoming in datebook +

Great program, but too large |
It boils down to whether you need a program as large as Datebk4 to keep yourself organized. It is feature rich, hence the size. I have not found it buggy at all on my Visor Deluxe. I have used ActionNames, and contrary to what some others have posted, it was buggy. In fairness, however, ActionNames manages to do much of what Datebk4 does with far less memory. As for Datebk4, if you have the memory to spare, give it a try. It is quite a good program.
